Little Legs loves helping out in the kitchen, she can spend hours pretending to make us extravagant meals and takes so much delight in making us afternoon tea and cakes, so when we were asked if we would like to review the KidKraft Deluxe Big and Bright Kitchen, I knew it was something that we could not turn down. KidKraft are the creators of quality children’s wooden toys and furniture.
The parcel arrived whilst Little Legs was in school so we took the opportunity to have it all set up and ready as a surprise for when she returned home. As expected the box was on the large side and also required two people to manoeuvre it around (I’d suggest a minimum of two people)
The contents of the box were very well packed, each item had it’s own protection to prevent any damage but it also meant lots of unpacking because there were so many well packed parts. The amount of parts was actually quite daunting but we soon discovered some very clear detailed instructions labelling every single step of the assembly process and some very well organised screws, nuts and latches. The only extra item that we required was a Philips head screwdriver.
We underestimated how long it would take to assemble, it took a little under 3 hours from unboxing to be fully assembled. The amount of work it takes to assemble it worth it when you see how well they are made, every little detail had been thought out from colour matching screws, to latches inside the cupboards. Slowly the kitchen began to take shape, it was clear to see how much care and attention had gone into producing the handmade kitchen. The whole assembly process ran smoothly with no niggles as every piece was clearly numbered and labelled.
Because it took so long to put together, Little Legs was able to help with the final processes as she excitedly passed us each item. She loved helping and feeling like she was making her kitchen too.
In total it took just under three hours to build and the end result it a very sturdy and well made kitchen. The kitchen itself is beautiful, bright and large enough for more than one child to use at a time. The sink can be removed and the whole unit is easy to clean which is great if you have younger, smaller children.
The kitchen contains a spacious fridge, freezer and a two shelf oven and hob with realistic clicking dials. It also features a microwave, storage shelves, phone, sink with mixer taps and a spacious cupboard. Design wise we love the bold colours, they go perfectly in her bedroom. The little extras of pegs to hang the included wooden spoon, spatula and pot holder really make a nice finishing touch.
I love the little details of the clock on the side of the fridge and the little white board shopping list, they’re really cute and make it much more realistic to Little Legs, she enjoys making her shopping lists to refill her cupboards.
Little legs has thoroughly enjoyed having this play kitchen in her bedroom, we have been treated to picnics, afternoon tea and specially prepared lunches all from her little kitchen, it really does keep her entertained for hours. It’s certainly a piece that she will love playing with for a long time. It’s so sturdy and robust that I can see it lasting for years to come.
Safety wise I have no concerns, the kitchen comes with a wall fixing so there is no worry about the kitchen toppling over. The doors all have soft catches so will not close on little fingers.
Overall I can’t recommend this kitchen enough especially for the price. It’s honestly an amazing little play kitchen, we are very impressed with the build and quality. You can clearly see that they are built to last so it was certainly worth the effort it took to assemble.
The kitchen is currently priced at £187.92 with free UK delivery from Amazon
