Little Legs is a huge Nick Jr fan, if it’s on Nick Jr then it has her attention especially Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom. It’s one of her favourite shows and she can watch the same episodes over and over again.
We were recently sent the Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom Thistle Castle Playset to review and as you can imagine, Little Legs could barely contain her excitement when the postman rolled up with this. She couldn’t wait to get started on re-enacting some of the scenes from one of her favourite shows.
There were squeals of delight as we unboxed the Playset and I must admit I was a little excited for Little Legs as she ooh’d and ahhh’d whilst discovering the features.
Thistle Castle is a magical playset with lots of little hidden secrets to entertain little ones. The playset includes a Holly character and requires no set up so it’s ready to play with straight out of the box. As well as the Holly character, it also comes with a bed and also a treasure chest full of hidden secrets. Holly features her charming pink dress, crown and fairy wand just like in the TV show.
One of the benefits of this play set is that it can be combined and attached with other playsets in its series to create your magical kingdom but it is also a lovely toy to play with on its own.
Thistle Castle is of an open plan design which features Holly’s bedroom and the Thistle Castle kitchen. The removable bed has a Holly shaped hole so that she can stay securely in bed without falling off.
Now for the really cool features, inside of Holly’s bedroom is a secret passageway within her toy box. This secret passage is actually a magical slide and leads it’s way to the Thistle Castle kitchen.
The kitchen also features a magical floating throne on the wall so that Holly can impress her guests with her fairy magic. Inside the kitchen lies more secrets to discover, like Nanny Plums book of spells which is hidden away away beneath a secret floor panel, handy for when you need to turn somebody into a frog!
One of the main features of the Kitchen is the bubbling cauldron which contains a big spoon to stir the potion inside. On stirring the cauldron more magic happens, the portrait of King Thistle on the wall behind disappears to reveal the secret store cupboard.
One of Little Legs favourite part of the play set is the magical treasure chest which reveals its secrets when the magic words are spoken, “abracadabra” she says to reveal that a once empty chest is now filled with a booty of gold coins.
The attention to detail inside Thistle Castle is amazing, such as the pictures on the walls, the opening fridge and the little extras like the bed and treasure chest really do make this a magical and whimsical playset which Little Legs loves.
Overall we have found the Thistle Castle to be a delightful playset although Little Legs was a little disappointed that Holly’s best friend Ben Elf wasn’t included to keep Holly company. This isn’t a huge problem though as extra playsets and characters can be purchased from the range.
The Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom Thistle Castle Playset is available for £24.99 from Character Online and from other toy stores.
Disclosure: We received the Thistle Castle to review but all the opinions expressed are my own.
