The Florida Bucket List

The Florida Bucket List 2

Florida is on of my all-time favourite places to visit, it ticks all of the boxes for a perfect family holiday.

Every time that we have been, we’ve never bothered with hotels, whilst they might work for some, we much prefer the freedom of having your own space. Hiring villas in Florida has always been the best option for us, being able to come and go as we please and the private swimming pools that some offer are an added bonus.

Florida is packed full of entertainment for the whole family, here’s our top list of things to do on your visit.

Disney Parks

The Disney theme parts are right at the top of our list, even though I’m a fully-grown adult, there is nothing more exciting that a trip to Disney World. From having breakfast with your favourite Disney character, the fantastic rides and the amazing parades and fireworks in the evening. There are so many parks to visit, it’s almost impossible to cover in one day. There’s Disney’s Magic Kingdom which is the iconic park, organised into 6 themed lands. Then you have Disney’s Animal Kingdom which is the Disney zoological theme park. There’s also Epcot, Disney Water parks and not forgetting Disney Hollywood Studios, there is honestly so much to do, you could spend a few days there and not get bored.  Disney is my favourite place to be.

Universal Orlando

Being a huge Potterhead, I’m a massive fan of Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ at Universal Studios Florida. It’s not just for Harry Potter fans though, Universal is home to many attractions from TRANSFORMERS, The Simpsons, Marvel Super Hero Island®, Jurassic Park and so much more for Movie & TV buffs.

Florida Everglades

Florida is home to the infamous Everglades, a 1.5-million-acre wetlands preserve in the South of Florida. An area of coastal mangroves, swamps, sawgrass marshes and pine flatwoods which is home to hundreds of different species of animals from Alligators, Turtles, Eagles, Snakes and Manatees. You can book yourself on an airboat tour of the Everglades  for a great adventure filled day out.

NASA Kennedy Space Centre

The Kennedy Space Centre makes for a great afternoon out. You can see the real space shuttle Atlantis, meet an actual NASA astronaut and tour the NASA facility.

Visit Key West

There’s so much to do at Key West, you can make a whole day trip of it and include fun filled activities such as a glass bottomed boat tour, go dolphin watching on a catamaran or even snorkelling in the coral reef.

Busch Gardens

For the thrill seekers amongst you, Busch Gardens Tampa has it all. It’s a 335-acre African-themed animal park filled with exciting rides, live shows and of course it is home to over 12,000 animals, including exotic and many endangered species. You can book yourself on the Safari tour which comes highly recommended.

Discovery Cove Orlando

Discovery Cove is a one of a kind interactive experience. You can feed tropical birds, get up close and swim with bottlenose dolphins, snorkel amongst fish and enjoy the lazy river. It was definitely one of my favourite family days out.
