Post holiday blues

We spent a lovely week in the Spanish sun with amazing weather and clear blue skies every day, relaxing by the pool, investigating on the beach, and having a lovely time. When our holiday was over we hoped for a little sunshine on our return but no such look, on our decent into Manchester Airport we were greeted with dark, gloomy grey skies in every direction.

To us the temperatures were freezing, it probably wasn’t really that cold but with the wind, rain and lack of sun, the weather was truly miserable. A few days after arriving home, the lurgy struck Isabelle and myself, we were full of summer colds. With the rain and illness we were housebound for the next few days. So while thee Mr went back to work, we enjoyed some quality girl time together vegged out at home wearing our onesies and pyjamas with the heating on, watching Disney movies, reading books and crafting together.

It was a far cry away from taking afternoon dips to cool down from the week previous, instead the post holiday blues were setting in. We had enjoyed spending time together as a family so returning home required some adjusting and getting back into routine.

The most depressing part so far has been emptying the suitcases and carrying out the washing knowing that our summer clothes aren’t going to get much of an appearance this year, instead I’ve pulled out the jumpers and cardigans, winter tights and boots until we get some summer sunshine.

Earlier on in the year I had planned days  out and activities for the summer months, including new garden toys and games but so far we’ve not had the opportunity to do anything that we had planned, no trips to the beach. Isabelle on the other hand is quite happy that she still gets to splash in puddles whilst wearing her wellies and raincoat and exploring treasure trails and heading to the park to feed the ducks. For me though I’d love a little bit of sunshine, holiday mode was truly over.
