We finally went on our very first night out since Isabelle was born, our first full night away from her. I found it daunting and couldn’t wait to pick her up in the morning.
For the first couple of hours out I found it hard to relax and wasn’t really enjoying it, we only went for a meal and couple of drinks so it wasn’t a full on boozy night out (I am no longer capable of them.) Half way through the meal I started to enjoy myself a little more and towards the end of the night I had a really good time. It was lovely to have some quality time with my partner outside of the house. I enjoyed not being fully laden like a mummy donkey with bags and baby things. Even though I didn’t drink I was still able to have a good time (after a while)
It was nice to come home and it just be me and my partner and going to bed without fear of waking the baby. Even though I did wake up at our usual morning time it was still lovely just to lie in bed for a while and relax with no baby using me as a climbing frame. As a couple we don’t really have any quality time together but as enjoyable as it was I think a definitely prefer us a family trio.
After our lie in we went straight to pick her up and we were actually excited about it, I hadn’t’ seen her for over 15 hours and my partner even longer. We were greeted with big beaming smiles and giggles with her holding her hands out to us to be picked up, that alone was worth going out for.
She was well behaved but had a few hiccups with her bed routine and didn’t cry for us once. She was perfectly happy to be away from us, I thought I would be a little disappointed that she didn’t miss us like that but I couldn’t be any more proud of her for being a big girl.
I won’t be going out again for a while though or leave her overnight, maybe we could have a date night once a month?
