A blog is often a great vehicle for expanding a business. Once you have a blog up and running, you can use it to make money in a number of ways. One of the smartest things to do, and a strategy many successful bloggers use, is to set up an online store. Your store is connected to your blog, so it will be seen by people who visit your blog all the time. But the question is what you should be selling from your blog’s online store. Not all products will be suitable for your brand, so you have to choose carefully.
Physical Products on your store
Physical products can be a good option if you want to start an online store for your blog. You have the option of having stock ready to sell, using dropshipping, or perhaps even making items to order. Which products you choose should depend on the topic of your blog. If you write about organising and planning, you might use a quality book printing service to create notebooks and similar materials. Your fashion blog could sell hand-selected clothes or accessories. It should be something that will be of interest to your readers that offers them something unique.
Digital Downloads
If you don’t want to deal in physical products, digital products could be an option you have instead. Digital downloads are often easier to manage. Your customers can just download their items from a link, or you could email their products to them. You won’t have to deal with sending out physical products. Digital items could include things like ebooks or maybe printables that provide useful resources for your readers. If you want to sell digital products, you’ll need to think about where the files will be hosted and how your customers will receive them. Will you offer a download or send them in an email?
Online Courses
Creating an online course might take some time, but it’s a good way to make money online. It offers a fantastic resource if you have some knowledge you can share. There are many things your course could cover. But, of course, it should make sense for your blog and your readers. If you have a blog about blogging, a course on a related topic could work out for you. But if you have a fashion blog, maybe creating an online course wouldn’t really be something that benefits you.
Memberships and Subscriptions
Some bloggers have success with selling access to a private, members-only area of their site. Another, similar, option is a digital subscription to a service of some sort. These sorts of products can work for you if you want to create a regular income stream. People can sign up for just a few pounds a month, helping to bring in money for you each month. The more subscribers or members you have, the more money you’ll have coming in.
Think carefully about what to sell from your blog’s store. Some products could be perfect for you but not all of them will make sense.
