Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year, and if you’re a university student, it gives you some much-needed, valuable time off from all the hard work! It’s also great for helping you to recuperate, which is ideal if you’ve had lots of deadlines to meet right before the festivities start.
You probably won’t need much help when it comes to making the most of it, therefore, but we’ve come up with some tips to help you on your way anyway.
Take the time to get organised with your studies
Getting organised in your student housing in London or wherever you may be studying is a great way to have a productive festive season. You could organise a schedule for everything you have to do in the New Year and write it all up on a big wall calendar to put in your room so you’ll always see it. You could also take the time to get ahead, especially if you’re on a course that has a good few week’s holiday. Ask your lecturer for your reading list so you can get a head start.
Get some revision/work done for January
Especially if you have January exams coming up or you have coursework deadlines near the beginning of the New Year, it’s a great idea to use some of your Christmas holiday to prepare for them. Get organised with a schedule so that you’ll have plenty of time for play as well as work so you don’t work yourself too hard.
Take the time to try new things
Particularly if you’re an international student and are staying at uni for the Christmas holiday, why not take the opportunity to try out festive activities that are popular in your temporary home country? There are heaps of things to do all over the UK at Christmas that you’re bound to find something interesting that you’ll really enjoy. Check out international student societies so you could have friends to go with who are in the same position as you, too, which can be a great experience.
Spend some much needed time with your loved ones
Christmas is the ideal time for catching up with those you may not have had the chance to see much over the university year, so take the time to spend some quality time with those who matter to you the most. You may even be surprised at whom you do want to spend most of your time with over the holidays; mad, late nights may take a surprising backseat to quite family nights in with DVDs after a stressful semester!
Immerse yourself in the festivities and have some fun!
Above all, Christmas should be a time for you to relax, have some fun and to unwind. It’s a great time of year to let your hair down and rejuvenate; so that you return back to uni after your break feeling refreshed and ready to give your all to another uni year.
