In my pursuit of my “I woke up like this” skin, I’ve kissed many frogs, so to speak. In fact, in the past six months alone I have spent hundreds on skincare products from many brands. I am only in love with a small handful of those products though, and due to the cost of living crisis here in the UK, I for one do not want to be spending any money on products I do not reach for time and time again.
So when a friend recommended yet another cleanser that said it would do amazing things for my face, I was sceptical but decided to try it out anyway. I am so glad I did. Read on for my full review on Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser.
What You Need To Know About The Product
This is the brand’s number-one-selling face wash and one of its best-sellers across the board. The product is so gentle on the skin. Fresh says the product is created to effectively cleanse your skin, maintain its pH balance, increase hydration, deep clean your pores, and remove all makeup. The key ingredients are:
- Aloe vera gel, which helps calm and cool the complexion
- Borage seed oil, which helps nourish and soften skin.
- Soy proteins — rich in amino acid hydroxyproline — which improves elasticity and smooths skin to promote a healthy-looking complexion, and
- Cucumber extract, which helps cool and soothe the skin.
The Soy pH-Balanced Hydrating Face Wash, as it is named on the website, comes in three sizes:
- Travel size: 50 ml for £15.00
- Full size: 150ml for £34.00
- Jumbo: 400ml for £62.00
I have the jumbo size.
My Review
Having used several Fresh products before, I wasn’t swimming in completely unknown waters with this brand. Last Christmas, I found their Sugar Coconut Lip Balm and Lily Jasmine Body Wash in my stocking; both products were lovely to use, and the lip balm lasted for ages! The friend who recommended this face wash to me said that it had worked wonders for her dry skin, which is not usually something a face wash on its own will do — so I was intrigued.
When my online order of the product arrived, I fell in love with the packaging straight away. Minimal branding and a simple ecru bottle has kept my bathroom shelf looking clean and uncluttered. The bottles and tubes are made using 21% post-consumer recycled materials, and the product also comes without a box, which I love again for waste reasons. Fresh says they have saved 18.6 tonnes of cardboard by making this move, which I wholeheartedly support. Not only is the packaging eco-friendly, but so is the soy! The proteins in this formula are re-purposed from food industry soy waste. The pump on the jumbo bottle works smoothly — there’s no jerky action — and dispenses a good amount.
The first thing I noticed about the product itself is that a little bit goes a long way. A small amount (one or two pumps) lathers up enough to cleanse your entire face and neck. The jumbo bottle lasts me for ages, too — almost half a year’s worth of cleansing in one bottle, which minimises the need to keep spending on skincare. The clear gel is lightweight and doesn’t smell overpoweringly of anything — just a light cucumber scent. The foam really does lift away all makeup and dirt. I didn’t have to scrub excessively at my eye either — just a regular massage with the lather.
You’d expect that a cleanser that so effectively removes all makeup might be aggressive and dry your skin, but surprisingly, the opposite is true here. Fresh’s claim that this cleanser helps keep your skin more moisturised is actually true! There is no tight feeling when I dry my face off after cleansing; I’m not desperate to get the moisturiser out of the bottle and only my face as fast as possible. After about a week of using the cleanser, I noticed that the pesky pores on my nose that harbour those evil blackheads became far less noticeable than they had been- sweet relief!
Other Fresh Products On My Wishlist
Now that I have discovered the wonders of Fresh skincare, there are a few other products by the brand that I’d like to check out since I know I am getting quality products for my money.
- Kombucha Antioxidant Facial Treatment Essence: This is an antioxidant prep essence that deeply penetrates 20+ surface layers to boost your skincare routine’s efficacy, hydrate & deliver gorgeous luminosity. I’ve seen this raved about on my for you page on Tiktok, it’s like the algorithm knows what I am thinking!
- Black Tea Peptide Firming Overnight Mask: I’ve always wanted to splurge on a mask that actually does what it promises. This is a high-performance sleeping mask cocoons your skin with the moisturising and firming ingredients, leaving it looking radiant.
My birthday is coming up soon, so hopefully I will be able to do a review of these products shortly.
If you end up trying the Soy Face Cleanser, let me know what you think!
