Creating a Kids’ Playroom

A kids’ playroom is a special place for your little ones to play and enjoy themselves, either with their siblings or friends. It’s also a great way to keep the rest of your home tidy as all the toys can be kept in there; what more can a parent ask for? You can very easily transform any spare room in your home into a great playroom, it just takes a few simple ideas to get you started.

Include storage options

The basis of any kids’ playroom should include ample toy storage, so that you can clear the rest of the house of toys once and for all! The playroom is your kids’ safe haven; if the toys are all over the floor then it’s not the end of the world. However, having a home for everything helps and might even encourage the children to keep it tidy too.

Shelves are always handy, but make them look interesting. You could create different coloured shelves by painting them, or make sure they are low enough for the kids to reach them too. If putting up shelves isn’t your thing, storage boxes are an equally good idea; compartments can be used for each of your children’s toys.

Create some wall art

You want to make sure the playroom is an exciting and magical place for the kids to play in, but how? Wall stickers or other similar wall art can make the room look more inviting, and it’s up to you what you choose.

Educational ideas include a world map or even alphabet and letters, or you could simply just go for simple decoration to give the room a bit of colour. A whiteboard is also a great idea to help the kids get a bit creative; as long as you trust them not to draw on the walls!

Choose the right furniture

A reading corner proves very popular in a playroom; use lots of cushions or even beanbags to make it comfortable. Likewise, you might want to make a window seat; this can be for the kids or even just a place for all their teddies to sit.

A table and chair set might also be helpful, particularly if they want to spend an afternoon colouring in or getting involved in other arts and crafts.
