Interior Essentials for Your Home Office Space

If, like me, you work from home most of the time, then creating a comfortable space to work from is essential. People working from home are often under just as much deadline-pressure than office-based workers, therefore it is important that where we choose to work from is fit-for-purpose.

If you work from home too, then here are some handy tips that might help you set up the perfect home office space.

Pick Your Spot Wisely

When you first start working from home, it is tempting to fling yourself on the sofa or lie on your bed with your laptop open and begin your day. This, however, is not a long-term or effective way to work. As well as causing havoc for your posture and your back, it is also tempting to be distracted by a morning daydream or an afternoon snooze! Choosing the perfect spot to work from in your home requires thought and logic. Try to avoid being too near the kitchen, if possible, as you might be distracted to do household chores or raid the fridge every ten minutes. Ideally you will find a nice, quiet corner to fit in a desk and everything else you need to be able to do your job.

Find a Great Chair

Once you have found your perfect place to work, then you should invest in a great chair. Choosing a chair can be a difficult choice, with so many available, however, it is vital you find one that offers comfort, support and durability. You will be sat here a lot, so it needs to really work for you. Leather chairs are a great option as they are usually very comfy and mould to your body shape, but equally fabric or rattan chairs can be good and can blend in nicely with your home interior style.

Create Storage Space

Just as many modern offices now operate a tidy-desk policy for their employees, you too should do the same at home. Keep your desk as clear as possible to avoid distraction and tidy away stationery in a place that is hidden but accessible when you need it. There are some clever storage solutions available such as bespoke wall shelving or trendy freestanding filing cabinets that should do the trick. If you need bulky equipment to be able to carry out your job, then look at ottoman or trunk options to store everything in at the end of your working day.

Working from home can be a very flexible and rewarding way to work, providing that you organise your space effectively and efficiently.
